Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Sunline (la.marsave.sunline) is an Android live wallpaper that shows a part of the world you choose, lit by the real sun. This policy covers the Sunline app and this website. It explains the small amount of data Sunline needs to work, what happens to it, and how to have it deleted.

Sunline is made by Sergiu Marsavela, an independent developer, who is responsible for this data (“I” and “me” below). You can reach me at sunline [at] marsave.la.

What the app sends, and why

All of this goes to the Sunline image service at daynight.sdmn.eu, which I operate, over HTTPS only.

DataWhy
Random install IDA random identifier (UUID) the app creates the first time it runs. It identifies this installation during a session, so the server can limit how many images one installation requests. It isn't derived from, or linked to, your name, email, Google account, advertising ID or device hardware IDs.
Google Play Integrity tokenGoogle Play's proof that the request comes from a genuine copy of Sunline installed from Google Play, so the images can't be scraped by other apps. The server passes it to Google to verify, then discards it.
Chosen region and screen sizeThe longitude, latitude, zoom and pixel size of your wallpaper, so the server can crop the image to fit your screen. This is the area you picked to look at, not where you are.
Purchase token and order ID (Pro only)Sent only if you buy Sunline Pro, to verify the purchase with Google Play and unlock Pro features.
IP addressSeen by the server as part of any internet connection. Used only in access logs, as described below.

What's kept on the server, and for how long

What stays on your phone

The install ID, the current session token, your settings (including your chosen region) and the most recent wallpaper image, so Sunline keeps working offline. Only your settings are included in Android backups and device-to-device transfers. The install ID, session and images are excluded, so a restored phone gets a fresh identity. Uninstalling Sunline removes all of it.

Who the data is shared with

Google's handling of this data is covered by Google's Privacy Policy. Apart from that, nothing is shared with anyone. Your data is never sold, rented or used for advertising. I would only disclose it if required by law.

What Sunline doesn't collect

Location, contacts, photos, files, messages, your name, email or Google account, the advertising ID, device hardware identifiers, browsing activity, crash logs and analytics events.

The app asks for one permission:

PermissionWhy
INTERNETDownload wallpaper images. Granted automatically; no prompt.
BIND_WALLPAPERNot a permission Sunline requests from you. It protects Sunline's wallpaper service so that only Android itself can run it.

Legal basis

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, such as the GDPR, the install ID, integrity check, region, screen size and access logs are processed on the basis of legitimate interests: delivering the wallpaper, preventing abuse and keeping the service secure. Purchase data is processed to provide the Pro features you bought.

Your choices and rights

Children

Sunline isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect personal data from them.

This website

sunline.marsave.la uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts, and its fonts and images are served from the site itself. The map on the home page is drawn in your browser and nothing you do with it is sent anywhere. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log visitors' IP addresses for security. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If a change affects what the app collects, it will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
